
Sri Vijaya Puram, July 25: Under the visionary guidance of Learned Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration to enhance Sports activities to school girl child, the Deputy Education Office, South Andaman orchestrated a vibrant and inspiring Rope Skipping Demonstration at Marina Park Road on July 24, 2025, at 2:30 PM.
This high-energy event was conducted as part of the esteemed Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Programme, aiming to empower girl students from the Sri Vijaya Puram Headquarter area and highlight their potential through sports.
The rope skipping event was made even more special with the enthusiastic participation of girl children with special needs, proving that abilities know no bounds.
The occasion was graced by the esteemed presence of Smt. Sindhu Pillai, IPS (Inspector General of Police, A&N Islands), whose motivational address deeply resonated with the young athletes, leaving an indelible mark on the participants. She exhorted girls to indulge in Sports, Book reading and studies. The Department of Police and Education is set to launch a Self-Defense Training Program for girl students in the near future, empowering them with essential skills and confidence to ensure their safety and well-being.
Over 850 students from various schools came together to showcase their incredible rope-skipping skills, team spirit, and boundless enthusiasm. Their synchronized performances and dynamic energy turned the event into a celebration of talent and unity.
The program was widely appreciated by parents, educators, and members of the public, who commended the Education Department’s commitment to promoting physical fitness, women empowerment, and the holistic development of students, particularly girls.
A highlight of the event was the felicitation of three celebrated women athletes from the islands Smti. Suchitra Rani Mondal, Smti. Abha Manjula, and Smti. Shrimati Bishnoi, who have brought glory to the A&N Islands at the national and international levels. Their achievements served as a beacon of inspiration, encouraging young girls to dream big and reach higher.
The Department of Education is endeavoring to popularize Rope Skipping in the UT of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, where frequent rainfall often disrupts outdoor physical activities. The versatility and minimal infrastructure requirements, Rope Skipping presents an ideal opportunity for promoting physical fitness among students, regardless of the weather conditions.”
