Monsoon Festival 2025 at Corbyn’s Turns Out into a Vibrant Celebration of Sportsmanship, Community Spirit and Monsoon Festivity

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 27: As part of the on-going series of events, fairs, and festivals, the Tourism Department, A&N Administration successfully organized the Monsoon Beach Volleyball Tournament – 2025 on 26th & 27th July at the picturesque Corbyn’s Cove Beach. Held under the dynamic theme #VolleyTheVibe, the event turned into a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship, community spirit, and monsoon festivity.

The event witnessed a tremendous turnout, with 41 Men’s teams and 23 Women’s teams participating, transforming Corbyn’s Cove into a vibrant arena of energy and excitement. The spirited competition and enthusiastic crowd created an electrifying atmosphere along the shoreline, making the tournament a memorable highlight of the Monsoon Tourism Festival.

The Secretary (IP&T), Ms. Jyoti Kumari, IAS, as the chief guest gave away the prizes to the winners and runner up teams of Volleyball & Tug of War events.

A large number of locals, tourists, students and families gathered to cheer the teams and became part of the much-awaited weekend celebration. With the rhythmic waves and monsoon breeze in the backdrop, Corbyn’s Cove came alive with excitement, energy, and applause.

The festival displayed community spirit through thrilling games & lively music entertaining the general public and visitors at the beach site throughout the day. Excellent serves, good rallies and powerful smashes by the teams of the beach volleyball final match received accolades & cheers from onlookers. In the finals of the Beach Volleyball, the team of Seva Bharath remained champions for the eighth time in a row since their participation in the Monsoon Festival. In the men’s volleyball match, the players viz. Usman, Jesu & Sandeep of Seva Bharath team defeated the team of Gurumoorty & Pawan of Prem Nagar by 2-0. Similarly, in the women’s final, the duo of Solomi & Chandrika of New Pahargaon team defeated the duo of Brenda & Venona of 2-Sisters team by 2-1. In the men’s Tug of War event, RR team defeated the team of Raymond by 2-1 while in the women’s category, the CTBS team defeated the team of IP&T 2-0.

The Tourism Department awarded cash prizes of Rs 7,000 (Winners) and Rs 5,000 (Runners-up) for the Beach Volleyball (Men & Women) categories. Additionally, NHIDCL sponsored the Tug of War prizes, awarding Rs 6,000 (Winners) and Rs 4,000 (Runners-up) in both men & women categories, reaffirming its commitment to promoting grassroots sports and youth engagement in the Islands.

With pleasant monsoon showers adding colour to the evening and a cheerful weekend crowd that exceeded expectations, the event truly turned into a community celebration. It was a long-awaited gathering where sport met celebration and tradition met enthusiasm, leaving everyone looking forward to the next edition. The tournament reinforced the Tourism Department’s vision of positioning the Andaman & Nicobar Islands as a thriving destination for eco-tourism, adventure sports, and cultural harmony. The Department of Tourism has extended sincere gratitude to all participants, volunteers, supporting Departments, and the ever-spirited spectators for making this event a resounding success.
