Electricity Department Experiences Shortage of 8-10 MW Power, Consumers Urged to Use Power Judiciously

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 30: It is to bring to the kind notice of the general public that there is a shortage of 5 MW power due to closure of NVVN plant at Chatham to facilitate vacation of site for the upcoming installation of new 10 MW power plant at same location in addition to already prevailing shortage of 3-4 MW. As a result of the same overall paucity of 8-10 MW in Sri Vijaya Puram and adjoining areas of South Andaman is being experienced.

To bail out from the present power crisis to some extent, it is appealed to all general public and consumers, commercial establishments, Govt. establishments and hoteliers to judiciously use the power during evening peak hours from 5 PM to 11 PM. In addition, all commercial establishments shall switch off their ACs. Hoteliers shall operate their DG sets and Industrial units shall close their operation from 1700 Hrs to 2300 Hrs. during peak hours for extending their kind cooperation to the Department.
