Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 5: The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, today officially launched SMART PDS 2.0, a modern, citizen-centric Public Distribution System (PDS) that marks a significant technological upgrade from the earlier ePDS platform.
Effective from August 5, 2025, all ration card–related services will be available online through the newly developed portal: https://an.smartpds.nic.in. The platform has been developed by NIC (HQ) in coordination with NIC, Sri Vijaya Puram.
Beneficiaries can log in using the Aadhaar Number, Ration Card Number, or Registered Mobile Number of the Head of Family, followed by OTP-based secure authentication.
Key features of SMART PDS 2.0:
• One-stop online access to all ration card services—no physical visits to Government Offices required.
• Time-saving and efficient, eliminating long queues and manual form submissions.
• End-to-end digital services including updating family details, adding/removing members, surrendering, or downloading ration cards—accessible from anywhere in India.
• Real-time tracking of ration distribution and beneficiary entitlements.
• Paperless operations—no need to carry or submit physical documents.
• Transparent grievance redressal—users can register and track complaints online.
• Aadhaar-based biometric authentication ensures only genuine beneficiaries receive subsidized food grains.
This digital transformation is a landmark initiative to empower residents, especially those in remote and rural areas—by making essential PDS services more accessible, transparent, and equitable.
