
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 19: As part of the awareness activities on the theme “Soyameal – A Complete Protein Alternative”, an interactive session was conducted for the inpatients of AYUSH Hospital on Aug. 16. Dr. Manabika Dutta, MO I/c (Homoeo), encouraged the inclusion of soyameal in daily diets. Dr. Nandini, MO (Yoga & Naturopathy), highlighted its role in overall health and urged its promotion among families. Dr. Supria Arangi, MO (H), shared easy-to-prepare soyameal recipes, while Dr. Vaishali, MO (Ayur.) and Smt. Mariamma, Nursing Officer I/c, distributed informative handbills to patients and staff.
A similar session was held at the OPD Complex yesterday, focusing on soyameal’s role in promoting heart health, bone strength, glucose metabolism, and immunity.
Another awareness session was organized for yoga class participants at the Yoga Hall, followed by a yoga session promoting holistic wellness. The nutritional value of soyameal including its rich content of protein, essential amino acids, vitamins, and minerals was emphasized.
This initiative is part of ongoing efforts of the GoI, to popularize soyameal as a complete protein alternative and to promote its widespread use among the community. In total, the awareness programmes witnessed active participation from more than 105 individuals, including patients, their relatives, and AYUSH staff. Participants appreciated the informative and interactive nature of the discussions. These programmes were conducted under the overall supervision of Dr. Kalyan P. Kadbhane, Deputy Director (AYUSH).
