Legal Awareness Camp Held at CRC Diglipur; Teachers Urged to Handle Students with Sensitivity and Fairness

Diglipur, August 23: A Legal Awareness Camp was organised at CRC GSSS Diglipur today, with the objective of sensitising students and teachers to vital legal and social issues.

Welcoming the Chief Guest, Additional District Judge Mr. Subhajit Basu, the Vice-Principal of GSSS Diglipur Dr. Pushpavalli expressed hope that teachers from various feeder schools would benefit from the programme and translate the learnings into practice in their respective institutions.

In his keynote address, Mr. Basu highlighted the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and underscored the need to safeguard children from exploitation and abuse. He guided students on handling situations such as molestation, eve-teasing, and harassment, emphasising the importance of awareness, courage, and timely reporting.

Urging teachers to adopt a gender-neutral and sensitive approach, he stressed the importance of fairness in dealing with students and encouraged mutual respect among boys and girls. He further highlighted the role of discipline, responsible behaviour, and awareness of legal rights and duties in building a safe and just society.

The session also focused on the responsibilities of students as future citizens, the importance of respecting the law, and the courage to speak up against injustice. An interactive question–and–answer segment allowed students to clarify their doubts about real-life situations, making the programme both engaging and insightful.

Teachers from PM SHRI GSSS Subhash Gram, GSS Madhupur, GSS Laxmipur, GMS Khudiram Pur, GPS Subhash Gram, GPS NS Vidyatan, GPS SV Mandir, GPS Madhupur, GPS RK Gram, and GPS VV Pith also participated in the camp along with representatives from CRC GSSS Diglipur.
