Car Nicobar, Aug. 26: A District-wide TB Clinic was conducted yesterday in all Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs), and the District Hospital (DH) of Nicobar District where the TB patients examined and checked for weight gain or any side effects by the respective Medical Officer. The initiative was also organized yesterday at all Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) and Sub-Centres (SCs) in Car Nicobar, under the supervision of the District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO), Dr. Anwar Moosa, CMO. A total of 44 TB patients currently under treatment across the District were clinically examined by the Medical Officers.
At Car Nicobar, TB patients under the jurisdiction of each facility (AAM/SC) were clinically examined by the medical team. Dr. Sylvister MO-TC and Shri Loknath S, PMDT Coordinator, NTEP, monitored patients’ weight and treatment cards, reviewed progress, and provided counselling on treatment adherence to ensure cure and support the vision of a TB-Free District.
Patients were also enquired about receiving their Monthly Poshan Basket from ‘Nikshay Mitras’. They were sensitized on the importance of nutrition in faster recovery and were guided on how to utilize the financial support from ‘Nikshay Poshan Yojana’ for purchasing healthy and nutritious food items during treatment.
Furthermore, patients were counselled to strictly avoid alcohol consumption, as it can negatively impact treatment response and delay recovery.
The TB Clinics will continue to be held regularly on the 24th of every month across all Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Sub-Centres, PHCs, CHCs, and the District Hospital in Nicobar. This consistent effort aims to strengthen patient monitoring, improve treatment outcomes, and achieve the goal of TB Mukt Bharat.
