Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 26: RED RUN, a State Level Marathon of 5 Km for the College students and General Public was organized by Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS) under the direction of National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), MoHFW, GoI. on 26th August 2025. More than 70 students from 15 Colleges of all over Andaman & Nicobar Islands participated in the marathon. More than 150 participated from the General Public.
The Red Run was flagged off by Shri Karma Toppo, Assistant Coach (Kayaking & Canoeing) of Sports Authority of India (SAI), a well known International player of Kayaking & Canoeing. His presence in the event motivated the participants.
Dr. Subrata Saha, Project Director, ANACS in his special note welcomed all the participants and also informed on various aspects of HIV & AIDS
Mr. Pritam Das from Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) won 1st position, Mr. Tuhin Nag from Mahatma Gandhi Govt. College Mayabunder (MGGCM) won 2nd position and Mr. Chella Laxmi Naidu from Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) won 3rd position among the male category of College students.
Ms. Stuthy from Tagore Govt. College of Education (TGCE) won 1st position, Ms. Amrika Das from Dr B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT) won 2nd position, Ms. Ishika Roy from Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) won 3rd position among the female category of College students.
Mr. N. Eswaran won 1st position, Mr. Sandeep won 2nd position, Mr. Anand Kumar won 3rd position among the male category of General Public.
Ms. Vinita Lakra won 1st position, Ms. Sakshi Toppo won 2nd position and Ms. Sunaina Devi won 3rd position among the female category of General Public.
The route of the Marathon was from Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Stadium to Dignabad Jetty and back. The marathon was organized to create awareness on HIV&AIDS. The marathon was for the college students and was open for the general public.For the College level, the competition was conducted at various levels. The winners from each college from all the three districts of A& N Islands participated in this State Level Marathon. Students from ANCOL, Andaman Law College, ANIIMS, DBRAIT, DIET, ITI Dollygunj, JNRM, Pondicherry University Brookshabad Campus, TGCE, Govt. Polytechnic Diglipur, Mahatma Gandhi Government College, Mayabunder and ITI Car Nicobar.
The first and the second winners of both the male and female category of college level will be participating in the National Level Red Run to be held in the month of October at Nagaland organized by NACO, MoHFW, GoI.
