Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 10: The Inter School Chess Tournament for U-17 Girls of Sri Vijaya Puram Educational Zone commenced today at Teachers’ Home, VIP Road. The event is being organized by the Deputy Education Officer, South Andaman.
Shri Biswanath Sen, AD Sports (SYA), as the chief guest made the first move on the top board to formally inaugurate the tournament. After five rounds of intense competition, Tanisha Raj of VKV Lamba Line emerged as winner while R Shruti of Carmel Sr. Sec. School & S Bhavishya of Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School Aberdeen secured second and third positions respectively. The Under-17 Boys event will be held tomorrow, and all participants have been requested to report at Teachers Home, VIP Road by 8.30 am.
