
Mayabunder, Sept. 14: As part of the ‘TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’, the District TB Centre, Dr. R.P. Hospital, Mayabunder organized a ‘Nikshay Shivir’ at Ayushman Arogyamandir, Mohanpur, Mayabunder, with a special focus on the vulnerable population of the remote area. During the event, the District TB Officer delivered an awareness session on Tuberculosis, covering its signs and symptoms, the Nikshay Poshan Yojana, Nikshay Mitra, and emphasized the importance of early detection, timely treatment, and preventive measures.
Thereafter, the vulnerable population was transported to Dr. R.P. Hospital, Mayabunder for X-ray and sputum examination. The State Transport Service (STS), Mayabunder Unit provided a bus for mobilization of participants from the remote area. The screening was carried out by Dr. Christina Rossity, DTO, Dr. Alice Bwa, Medical Officer – DTC, and the supporting medical team.
The programme was conducted in the presence of the District TB Officer (DTO), North & Middle Andaman, along with health officials including Shri Madhava Rao, District Programme Coordinator (DPC); Smt. Punyawati, Community Health Officer (CHO); Shri R. Durga Rao, Senior Treatment Supervisor (STS); Shri Dulal Mandal, PMDT Coordinator; Smt. Sanjitha Soreng, TBHV; and ASHAs. A total of 105 individuals participated in the Shivir, out of which 99 vulnerable individuals underwent X-ray examination.
