
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 14: The two-day chess training programme with Grandmaster G. Akash, India’s 66th Grandmaster and former National Champion, concluded successfully this evening at the ANCA Chess Centre, Dairy Farm, Sri Vijaya Puram. The programme began yesterday with an electrifying Simultaneous Exhibition (Simul), where GM Akash took on multiple challengers at once. Budding talents of the islands eagerly participated in the rare opportunity, and many described the experience of facing a Grandmaster across the board as both inspiring and unforgettable.
Today’s session featured intensive training designed to enhance participants’ skills and deepen their understanding of the game. The schedule included mental training, positional chess, and a special interaction with parents, followed by guidance on effective training methods. The day concluded with game analysis session, where students brought their score sheets from the previous day’s simul and received expert feedback from GM Akash.
Players and parents alike appreciated the valuable insights imparted by GM Akash, who emphasized the importance of discipline, preparation, and systematic improvement in chess.
