
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 16: As part of ‘10th Ayurveda Day 2025’ celebration, with the theme ‘Ayurveda for People and Planet,’ along with Rashtriya Poshan Maah, the AYUSH Wing of DHS, in collaboration with the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, A&N Administration, organized a plantation drive (Ayush Poshan Vatika) under the initiative “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” at Government Middle School, Ayush Gram Wandoor, South Andaman.
The event aimed to promote environmental sustainability and health awareness by encouraging plantation of medicinal and fruit-bearing trees. Students, teachers, and local community members actively participated, reinforcing the link between ayurveda, people, and the planet.
The drive was graced by the presence of Shri Adhir Das, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Wandoor, who appreciated the initiative and emphasized the importance of integrating traditional health practices with modern ecological awareness.
As part of the event, 20 medicinal and fruit-bearing saplings were planted within the school premises, aiming to promote awareness among students and the local community about the health benefits of medicinal plants and the importance of maintaining ecological balance.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Suryakant Singh, MO (Ayurveda) under the guidance of the Deputy Director (AYUSH). Around 50 members actively participated in the programme, contributing to its successful execution through their enthusiastic involvement.
