
Campbell Bay, Sept. 18: A week-long Chess Training programme for students of Campbell Bay Zone commenced this morning at the Community Hall, Gram Panchayat, Campbell Bay, with great enthusiasm. The programme is being organised by the Education Department with the support of the Campbell Bay Educational Zone.
Around 100 students from various schools of the zone are participating in the programme, which aims to nurture young talent and promote chess at the grassroots level.
Dr. Keshav Narendra Singh, DANICS, Assistant Commissioner, Campbell Bay, Great Nicobar, graced the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest and made the ceremonial first move to mark the beginning of the training in the presence of Smti. Bindu Verma, Zonal Officer, Campbell Bay Educational Zone and Smti. Sumitra Devi, AS (Sports). In his address, Dr. Singh expressed gratitude to Shri Vikram Singh, Director of Education, for facilitating such an initiative in this far-flung area and urged the students to make the most of the opportunity.
The training programme is expected to provide a strong foundation for budding players and ignite greater interest in the game among school children in Campbell Bay.
