Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 5: The Government of India, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT), has extended the tenure of Shri Sunil Singhi as Chairman of the National Traders’ Welfare Board (NTWB) and Shri Girish Arora as Non-Official Member, for a further period of two years with effect from 19th June 2025, as per the official order issued on 29th September 2025.
Shri Sunil Singhi, who has been serving with distinction as the Chairman of NTWB, has once again been entrusted with the responsibility to lead the Board at the national level. His leadership has been instrumental in strengthening the voice of the trading community and fostering effective engagement with the central government on matters concerning traders’ welfare.
Shri Girish Arora, a prominent businessman from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, has also been re-nominated as a Member of the NTWB. Shri Arora has consistently worked towards safeguarding the interests of small and medium businesses, especially traders, and will continue to represent their concerns at the national platform.
The National Traders Welfare Board (NTWB) was constituted by the Government of India under the aegis of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry (DPIIT) vide Notification No. P-55015/2/2019-Internal Trade.
The Board functions as a recommendatory and advisory body to the Government of India, providing valuable insights and suggestions on policy measures, schemes, and reforms for the welfare of traders across the country.
The NTWB has always laid strong emphasis on promoting domestic industry, in line with the vision of Vocal for Local, encouraging the adoption and promotion of Swadeshi goods and strengthening the spirit of Made in India.
The Board comprises members with special expertise, along with representatives from trade associations and States/UTs, and convenes quarterly meetings. Its recommendations are placed before the Central Government for consideration and policy formulation.
The re-nomination of Shri Sunil Singhi and Shri Girish Arora underscores the Government’s recognition of their tireless efforts, vision and commitment to the welfare of traders at both the national and regional levels.
