
Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 7: As part of celebrations of Wildlife Week 2025, the Zoological Survey of India, EIACP Centre on Island Biodiversity, Andaman & Nicobar Regional Centre organized Wildlife Awareness Rally on 7th October, 2025, highlighting this year’s theme “Human Wildlife Coexistence”. The rally commenced from Cellular Jail and culminated at the premises of the Zoological Survey of India.
The event was flagged off by the Chief Guest, Dr. S. Dinesh Kannan, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Department of Environment and Forests, Andaman & Nicobar Islands. A total of 118 participants took part in the rally, including Scientists, Researchers, Forest Trainees, Forest officials, Representatives from the Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO), along with students and faculty from Andaman College (ANCOL), Andaman Law College and Tagore Government College of Education. With powerful messages on animal conservation and human-wildlife coexistence, participants carried banners and posters. The event was a successful means of raising public awareness of the value of preserving species and their habitats and encouraging local conservation responsibilities. By promoting peaceful coexistence between humans and wildlife, the Zoological Survey of India reiterated its commitment to the preservation and conservation of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands’ distinctive flora and fauna at the Wildlife Awareness Rally 2025.
