Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 13: The Deputy Education Officer, Wimberlygunj, under the Directorate of Education & Sports, organized the ‘North Bay Road Marathon–4.0’ on Oct. 11. The event was open to all and featured a 10 km run for men and school boys, and a 5 km run for women and girl students of the Wimberlygunj Educational Zone. A total of 180 participants enthusiastically took part in the event from Chunnabatta to North Bay and back.
The DEO, Wimberlygunj, Dr. Manoharan was the chief guest for the occasion. The Marathon–4.0 was flagged off by Shri Abdul Basheer, Pradhan, GP Kanyapuram, and Smti Rasheeda, Pradhan, GP Hopetown. The event was also graced by cyclists Biitu Singh, Nishu Chopra, Harpal Singh from Punjab and Sandeep Singh from Rajasthan who are on all-India tour to spread the message of ‘Say No to Drugs’. The Directorate of Education & Sports also felicitated these cyclists for their noble initiative.
Winners of each category were awarded cash prizes and medals in recognition of their outstanding performance.
