SIO Andaman Observes 43rd SIO Formation Day with Flag Hoisting & Cleaning Drive

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 19: The Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) – Andaman Zone observed the organisation’s 43rd Formation Day with great enthusiasm and a sense of social responsibility. The day began with a flag hoisting ceremony held at Nayapuram, attended by senior leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Andaman, former SIO leaders & members, and the current members and associates of SIO Andaman.

The SIO Flag was ceremoniously hoisted by Jb. M. K. Mohammed, President of JIH Andaman, along with Br. Ishaque Ali, President of SIO Andaman. In his address, Jb. M. K. Mohammed appreciated the efforts of SIO in nurturing socially responsible youth guided by Islamic values, and he emphasized the importance of students’ participation in constructive social change.

Following the flag hoisting, SIO Andaman organised a Cleaning Drive covering the route from Chatham Jetty to the Chatham Police Station, as part of its commitment to environmental awareness and community service. The drive was conducted in coordination with the Port Management Board (PMB) and Shri R. Someshwar Rao, Councillor, Ward No. 2, Haddo.

SIO members and volunteers actively participated in the drive, cleaning and collecting waste along the route and ensuring proper disposal through designated channels. The initiative aimed to promote the message of civic responsibility and environmental consciousness among the youth and the general public.

Speaking about the event, Br. Ishaque Ali, President of SIO Andaman, said, “SIO has always stood for moral and social reform. Through initiatives like this, we wish to remind the youth that service to society is an integral part of faith and responsibility.”

The 43rd Formation Day celebrations of SIO Andaman thus combined reflection, unity, and service, truly reflecting the organisation’s motto of building a better society through education and action.
