Mayabunder, Nov. 11: The Deputy Commissioner, N&M Andaman, Shri Sushant Padha, IAS, visited Diglipur and inaugurated a newly constructed Cold Storage Unit at Subhasgram on Nov. 8, developed under the ‘Post-Harvest and Cold Chain Infrastructure’ sub-component of PMMSY. During the event, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the efforts of the beneficiary and commended the Department of Fisheries for its proactive role in facilitating the project. He further encouraged stakeholders to avail benefits under PMMSY to enhance fisheries infrastructure and livelihood opportunities across the district.
The inaugural ceremony was held in the presence of Zilla Parishad Adhyaksh (N&MA), Shri Abhishek Gulia, Assistant Commissioner, Diglipur, Shri. Tapan Kumar Biswas, Assistant Director (Fisheries), N&MA, fish farmers, fish traders, stakeholders, and representatives of fisheries-related sectors.
The facility is expected to enhance post-harvest management, reduce spoilage, and improve market value for fishery product, thereby strengthening the fisheries value chain in the region.
