Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 12: The Electricity Department, A&N Administration has informed the general public and valued electricity consumers of Swaraj Dweep that in the existing 4 MW Power Plant at Swaraj Dweep, 1.5 MW power has been added to the grid on Oct. 30 with constant and continuous efforts of Electricity Department under the guidance of A&N Administration. With this achievement, the available power capacity has increased from 4.4 MW to 5.9 MW providing relief to the consumers.
The Electricity Department is making continuous effort to augment generation capacity in all Islands through DG sets and RE Projects, to mitigate demand and supply gaps. In this regard, Department also need cooperation of all consumers to come forward for installation of Rooftop Solar (RTS) system in their premises under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PM-SGMBY), for self-resilience and energy security. The scheme offers highest subsidy and at affordable price.
Active participation in this scheme will significantly contribute towards de-dieselization by reducing dependency on fossil fuels, achieving energy sustainability and promoting greening of the Islands.
