Submission of Form 5A Made Mandatory for Renewal of Transport Category Driving Licences

Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec. 4: The general public have been informed that as per instructions received from the National Informatics Centre and in accordance with Rule 18(1)(e) of the CMVR’1989, the submission of Form 5A has now been made mandatory for the renewal of Transport Category Driving Licences. This requirement also applies to the re-validation of expired transport licences and Additional Endorsement of Driving Licences (AEDL).

Any renewal/revalidation/AEDL application submitted without Form 5A with effect from Nov. 20, 2025 will be treated as incomplete, and the processing of such applications will be kept on hold until the document is uploaded/submitted. Applicants who have already submitted their applications and crossed the document upload stage may have their applications reverted to enable them to upload Form 5A.

All transport drivers and other stakeholders have been requested to take note of this change and ensure that Form 5A is submitted alongwith their renewal application to avoid delays. For any clarification, applicants may contact the Transport Department or visit the nearest STS Units.
