
Diglipur, Dec. 8: The Diglipur Vikas Mela – 2025 got underway today at Navin Nagar Ground, Diglipur. In a vibrant opening ceremony, the Mela was inaugurated by Shri Sushant Padha, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman, as the chief guest in the presence of senior district officials, PRI representatives, Self Help Group members, and local residents.
In his address, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the collective efforts of the DAY-NRLM unit and Panchayati Raj Institutions, Diglipur, for organizing the Vikas Mela with an aim to promote rural livelihood opportunities, community awareness, and inter-departmental coordination for holistic development. The Deputy Commissioner encouraged the public to actively participate in the Mela, explore opportunities extended by different Departments, and support the entrepreneurial efforts of SHG members.
Shri Abhishek Gulia, Assistant Commissioner, Diglipur lauded the initiative and encouraged community participation in various developmental programs showcased during the Mela.
The week-long Vikas Mela, features a wide range of stalls set up by various line Departments, showcasing Government schemes, beneficiary-oriented programs, and public service initiatives. A special attraction of the event is the participation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) from across Diglipur Block, who have displayed local products, handicrafts, processed food items, and innovative livelihood activities.
The Mela aims to create a platform for citizens to directly interact with Departments such as Agriculture, Fisheries, Health, Rural Development, Soil Conservation, Education, Industries, Forest, and others. Awareness campaigns, on-spot registrations, demonstrations, and grievance facilitation counters are among the key highlights. The ‘Diglipur Vikas Mela’ which started today will remain open for the public till Dec. 14, 2025, with several cultural programs, awareness sessions, and special activities scheduled throughout the week.
