N&M Andaman Police Foil Illegal Ganja Cultivation; Accused Arrested

Diglipur, Dec. 8: Continuing its steadfast mission to curb narcotics-related activities, PS Diglipur once again demonstrated strong operational efficiency in tackling the illegal cultivation of ganja within the district.

On 07/11/2025, acting on reliable intelligence inputs, a raiding team headed by Insp. Vijay Kumar, SHO PS Diglipur, conducted a targeted operation in Gandhi Nagar, Diglipur. The team comprised SI Abdul Shakil, SI K.P Abdul Aziz, HC Sanjit Madhu, PCs Ashish Kumar Singh, Yasir Arafath, Bijoy Sarkar, Lalita Sarkar and Ramesh Lall, supported by two independent witnesses. The overall operation was supervised by Shri Ankesh Yadav, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur.

During the search, the team identified and seized 01 No. Cannabis plant weighing approximately 102 gms, concealed behind a betel leaf plantation of the suspect. On questioning, the accused Amar Das S/o Late Mohan Das (63) yrs R/o Ward No. 1, Gandhi Nagar, Diglipur confessed to cultivating the plant for personal use and occasionally selling portions to acquaintances.

The accused was arrested on the spot, and a case under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act has been registered at PS Diglipur.
