Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec. 15: The general public, all Government Departments, and all Private Organizations have been informed that the earlier load shedding schedule dated 03.11.2025 had an average load-shedding duration of 5 hours. However, during November 2025, only approximately 1.34 hours of load shedding was actually implemented.
The Department is working on different augmentation projects across South Andaman to enhance power generation capacity and to significantly reduce or completely eliminate load shedding-
• Addition of 2.5 MW generating capacity at Phoenix Bay Power House has been completed.
• 5 MW HPP- M/s Modern Hiring Services is expected to be commissioned by 15/01/2026
• 10 MW HPP- M/s Sudhir Sales & Services Ltd. is expected to be commissioned by end of Jan 2026.
• 3 x 2000KVA D.G. Sets in house augmentation at PBPH under tendering process.
• 7 x 2000KVA D.G. Sets in house augmentation at CPH under tendering process.
In the interim, the average load shedding is being reduced to 3 ½ Hours as per the following new schedule, which is purely tentative and it is anticipated the average will be less than 1 Hour. Night hours load shedding has been exempted. The duration and timing may vary depending on available power generation, weather condition & other technical reasons. The schedule will be in place for 30 days with immediate effect.
Further to overcome the dependency of consumers in the grid supply, the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojna is nowadays playing a significant role by providing subsidized initial investment contributing substantial energy bill saving and selling surplus power to the grid leading to financial liberation and energy independence. Therefore, it is an Appeal to the consumers to install solar roof top in each and every domestic household and obtain the full benefits of PM Surya Ghar scheme and become Prosumers from Consumers and also contribute to the Net Zero emission goal of India.
