
Billiground, Dec. 17: On 16/12/2025, Police Station Billiground achieved a significant breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to curb illegal liquor trade in the district. Acting upon reliable intelligence inputs regarding unauthorized storage and sale of liquor at a shop located in Billiground Market, immediate action was initiated.
A special police team from PS Billiground, headed by SI P.C. Manickam, SHO, and comprising SI G. Ashok Kumar, HC Samir Halder, PCs Abhijit Mondal, Litan Halder, Meera Mondal, Nisha Mondal and HGVs Karan Bhattacharjee and Chapia Bepari, swiftly proceeded to the spot and conducted a thorough search operation under the close supervision of Sh. Chandan G.S., DANIPS, SDPO Rangat.
During the search of the rear portion of the shop, the team unearthed a large cache of illicit liquor (i) 88 Nos. 750 ml IMFL bottle (company-sealed), (ii) 64 Nos. 375 ml IMFL bottle (company-sealed) and (iii) 39 Nos. 180 ml IMFL bottle (company-sealed). The illicit liquor was seized from the possession of Anup Goshal S/o Shri Ashok Goshal, Shopkeeper Billiground Market R/o Billiground.
Upon interrogation, the accused failed to produce any valid permit or licence to justify possession and storage of such a substantial quantity of IMFL. Consequently, the seized liquor was taken into police custody, and legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused under the relevant provisions of the Excise Regulation.
This successful action stands as a testament to the team’s tireless efforts, meticulous planning, and unwavering commitment to eradicating illegal liquor trade within the district.
