Sri Vijaya Puram, May 29: The Electricity Department, NRSE Division, will be participating in the Island Coconut Festival 2025 with a dedicated stall (Stall No. 39) at ITF Ground, Sri Vijaya Puram to be held on May 30 & 31, 2025 for promoting the Government of India’s flagship rooftop solar scheme – PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
This initiative encourages households to generate their own electricity by installing rooftop solar systems. As part of the festival, the Department will facilitate on-the-spot registration for eligible consumers interested in adopting solar energy and availing the benefits under the scheme.
Key Highlights of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana:
Free Electricity: Households can receive up to 300 units of electricity per month free of cost, depending on the capacity of the solar system installed.
Government Subsidy: Rs. 78,000/- upto 2KW for each KW and 46800/- for additional 1 KW .i.e. for 3KW.
Reduced Bills: By generating their own power, consumers can significantly reduce monthly electricity bills.
Simple and Transparent Process: The application and installation process is streamlined through the national portal https://pmsuryaghar.gov.in, with full support from the Electricity Department, NRSE Division.
Consumers attending the festival have been encouraged to visit Stall No. 39 to learn more about the scheme. Complete assistance regarding registration, documentation, and answering queries regarding the solar rooftop installation process under the scheme will be facilitated during the event. Wiling consumers have been requested to visit the stall along with their Electricity Account No. / Electricity bill for spot registration.
