
Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan. 15: Armed Forces Veterans Day celebration for veterans residing in Andaman and Nicobar Islands was organised by Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) at Likabali Auditorium, Brichgunj Military Station yesterday. Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar, AVSM, NM, Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN) laid a wreath along with veterans including Veer Nari at Bayonet Chowk, Brichgunj Military Station (BMS) and later interacted with veterans at Likabali Auditorium. During the interaction, CINCAN reiterated ANC’s dedication towards welfare and well-being of veterans and veer naris residing in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and acknowledged their enduring contribution to nation building.
The occasion underscored ANC’s sustained and people-centric engagement with the veteran community through a range of welfare and outreach initiatives. These efforts focus on strengthening communication, enhancing preventive healthcare support and ensuring time bound resolution of issues faced by veterans and veer naris across Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
These initiatives also include awareness lectures, health and wellness sessions and interactive programmes, along with community engagement activities conducted periodically for veterans, veer naris and their dependents.
The Veterans Day celebration concluded with interactions aimed at addressing immediate concerns of the veteran community. Representatives from Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Indian Coast Guard, ECHS, SPARSH cell and ICICI Bank were present to address queries and critical issues of veterans. Veterans Day is observed to honour selfless service and sacrifices of veterans and to reaffirm continued commitment towards their welfare and dignity.
