
Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 18: Port Blair City Area Committee of CPI (M) has started a week-long campaign in the urban areas of Port Blair today (18.01.2026) from the Haddo area. A group of CPI (M) leaders and workers comprising D. Ayyappan, State Secretary, P. Sathyapal, Secretary, Port Blair City Area Committee, SP Kalairajan, SOC Member, KG Samkutty, Haddo Branch Secretary, K. Lakshman, E. Rudraiah and Sada David among others visited the interior areas of Ward No.2 and conducted street corner meetings.
Addressing the meetings, CPI (M) leaders explained the failures of the Port Blair Municipal Council in providing civic amenities to the people. They drew the attention of the people to the potholes ridden Municipal roads, unhygienic condition of the entire town, pathetic condition of footpaths, insufficient water supply, etc. The leaders also criticized the central government for the power cut, growing unemployment, price rise and corruption in the islands. CPI (M) leaders also criticized the government for scrapping the MGNREGA and bringing the VBGRAMG in its place.
There was good response from the people of the area towards the CPI (M) campaign.
