Sri Vijaya Puram, May 29: The two-day Island Coconut Festival-2025 with the theme ‘Celebrating Coconut – Culture, Cuisine & Crafts of the Islands’ is being organized by Tourism Department along with allied Department/Associations. The festival will begin tomorrow (May 30) from 2 pm at the ITF Pavilion, Sri Vijaya Puram.
The objective of the celebration is to promote coconut-based tourism and livelihoods, highlight traditional and modern uses of coconut in food, crafts, and wellness and also to create an immersive experience for tourists through activities, exhibitions and tasting zones.
There will be stalls setup by Govt. Departments showcasing coconut-based items/objects deeply rooted in their culture traditions and economic practices. Apart from this, stalls selling coconut-based savouries and food items will also be set up.
To add fervor to the festival, various competitions like Coconut Rangoli Competition, Coconut de-husking, Cooking competition based on coconut will be organized as part of the festival. Cash prizes to the winners would be awarded by the Tourism Department. Regarding Cooking competitions, participants are allowed to bring cooked food from home, made of coconut but garnishing, plating etc. will be done on the spot, on 30th May, 2025. All have been invited to come and celebrate the two-day unforgettable evenings filled with tropical vibes, delicious coconut treats, music and memories under the setting sun. The festival will be held from 2 pm to 8 pm on both days.
