Diglipur, Jan 21: On 20/01/2026, acting on credible intelligence about illicit liquor being brewed in the dense forest near Talbagan Village in view of the forthcoming Laxmi Narayan Mela, a police team from PS Kalighat under the supervision of SHO Kalighat, led by PC/2575 Ranjit Biswas, PC/1816 Sujit Kumar and PC/Baikanto Majhi was swiftly mobilised. Displaying commendable hard work, determination and professional dedication, the police team undertook an intensive search operation lasting nearly five to six hours, during which they diligently combed through roughly five square kilometres of the dense forest area.
During the operation, the team successfully detected two concealed brewing sites and recovered around 1025 litres of illicit lahan (fermented wash) hidden deep within the forest. At the first location, the lahan was found stored iron tins, plastic gallons and plastic buckets, totalling around 465 litres. At the second spot, the lehan was found stored in plastic buckets, plastic gallons, and iron tins, totalling around 560 litres.
