Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan. 30: A State Level function was held in the auditorium of ANIIMS to observe Anti Leprosy Day today. This year’s SPARSH Leprosy awareness campaign 2026 has been launched with the theme ‘Ending Discrimination Ensuring Dignity’.
Addressing as the chief guest of the function, the Director of Health Services, Dr. H.M Siddaraju delivered a brief speech on social aspects of Leprosy and also on the present scenario of Leprosy in these Islands. He also appealed to the audience to disseminate the scientific facts about leprosy amongst the masses.
Dr. B. Ajit Kumar, Deputy Director (Leprosy) presented key note address on Leprosy, its treatment and its social aspects especially the stigma and discrimination of the disease of the affected patient. He administered oath on ‘Anti Leprosy Day’ amongst the audience.
