Two-Day Training Programme on Value Addition of Flowers Organised at Kausalya Nagar

Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 01: A two-days training programme on ‘Value Addition of Agriculture Produce (Flowers)’ was organized by the Department of Agriculture, Rangat in association of UTATMA under farmer-oriented activities at Panchayat Hall, Kausalya Nagar on Jan. 30 & 31. Shri. George Kujur, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Kausalya Nagar inaugurated the programme as chief guest and urged the SHG members and women farmers to reap the maximum benefits of the training.

At the outset, Smti. Shirly Thomas, Assistant Director (Agri.) highlighted the importance and prospects of Value Addition of Flowers. She also encouraged the SHG members and women farmers to come forward and take up cultivation of various flowers and ornamental plants to enhance their skills in this field for income generation.

During technical session Smti. Saraswati Sutradhar, Agriculture Assistant detailed about the ‘Package of Practices of Cut flowers (Helicornia, Torch Ginger & Alpinia etc).

Hands on training of Flat bouquet, Round bouquet & Garland was imparted. Altogether 20 SHG members and women farmers participated in the training programme.

In addition, a demonstration on Post Harvest Management of Spices/ Cinnamon Bark Extraction (Peel & Processing) was conducted in the field of Shri. Ajit Mondal, Urmilapur Village, Gram Panchayat Urmilapur on Jan. 30. 118 Nos of cinnamon seedlings and other inputs were provided to the beneficiary.
