Sathyapal Raises Many Issues of Islands in the Loka Kerala Sabha Held in Thiruvananthapuram

Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 3: The Fifth Session of the Loka Kerala Sabha was held in Thiruvananthapuram from 29th to 31st January, 2026.  500 Delegates from 125 countries and 28 Indian States participated in the three-day Session.  Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the Conference on 29th January, 2026.  Discussions on various topics were held in eight halls of the Kerala Legislative Assembly. Ministers, MLAs and Government Secretaries of Kerala attended the discussions in each session.  

On the invitation from the organisers of the programme, P. Sathyapal, CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar State Secretariat Member attended the 3-day Session in Thiruvananthapuram representing Andaman & Nicobar Islands.  Participating in the discussions, P. Sathyapal explained the poor health conditions in the islands and requested the Government of Kerala to reserve atleast one PG seat in Allopathy and one PG Seat in Ayurveda for the candidates of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.  He also explained the difficulties for airlifting seriously ill patients from A&N Islands to mainland hospitals as the airlines charge exorbitant fare.  He sought financial aid from Kerala Overseas Department for transportation of stretcher patients from Port Blair to mainland.  He also told the delegates attending the Session that since both Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Kerala are two emerging tourism centres in the world tourism map, there should be wider publicity among the Keralites all over the world about the historical importance and tourist spots of the islands and Kerala State.  Sathyapal also touched upon a number of issues concerning the islanders particularly Keralites settled in the islands.
