Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan Inaugurated at Little Andaman

Little Andaman, June 1: Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan at Little Andaman was inaugurated by Tehsildar, Little Andaman, Shri Ajoy Mondal, as chief guest, by lighting the lamp at Community Hall, Ramkrishanpur Village in the presence of Shri Parmanathan,Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti, Hutbay ,Shri Vasudevan Nair, Zilla Parishad Member Hutbay, farmers and general public. The programme witnessed great enthusiasm and participation from local farmers, stakeholders and Government line Departments. The event was graced by Smti Siuli Mondal, Pradhan of Ramakrishnapur, Shri Ashamanja Halder, Zilla Parishad Member, Ramakrishnapur, Shri Festus Nathaniel, Secretary, Tribal Council, Harminder Bay, Shri Andrew Moses, 1st Captain, Harminder Bay besides Officials from Deptt. of Fisheries and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services.

The highlight of the event included comprehensive awareness sessions on agriculture and various line Department schemes, wherein farmers were sensitized about Government initiatives aimed at improving agricultural productivity, income, and access to resources. To promote scientific farming, Soil Health Cards were distributed to farmers by the chief guest. These Cards will enable farmers to understand the nutrient status of their soil and adopt better crop management practices. Progressive farmers Shri Golak Chandra Biswas and Shri Kamlesh Mazumder shared their views.

For the convenience of the farmers, dedicated counters were set up for distribution and collection of scheme forms, farmer registry data collection, dispensing of scheme-related leaflets and brochures, biofertilizers, organic growth hormones etc. were displayed. In an engaging segment of the program, a quiz competition was organized for farmers to encourage learning and participation. Winners were rewarded with planting materials of cinnamon and Vermicompost packets as well, to encourage them to diversify and enhance their agricultural practices.

The Assistant Director (Agriculture) welcomed the gathering and highlighted the vision of the ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ and the Government’s commitment to farmer welfare and sustainable agricultural practices.

The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan in Ramakrishnapur proved to be an informative and inspiring event that aligned with the Government’s vision of transforming rural agriculture and empowering farmers with the knowledge and support they need to thrive.
