
Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb. 4: The Param Vir Sagar Yatra concluded with a grand ceremony in New Delhi, featuring the active participation of Andaman & Nicobar NCC cadets. During the ceremony, the sacred Mati Kalash containing soil collected from 21 uninhabited Islands named after Param Vir Chakra awardees was ceremonially presented to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, marking the successful culmination of a significant national initiative dedicated to honouring the valour and supreme sacrifice of the nation’s bravest soldier.
The Param Vir Sagar Yatra is a unique sailing expedition in which NCC cadets from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands voyage aboard Indian Naval ship to 21 uninhabited islands named after Param Vir Chakra awardees, paying tribute to the nation’s bravest soldiers.

The Param Vir Sagar Yatra was undertaken by a core team of 20 NCC cadets from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and was ceremonially flagged off on 06th January, 2026 from the historic Flag Point at Sri Vijaya Puram by Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar, AVSM, NM, Commander-in-Chief, Andaman & Nicobar Command, in the presence of over 600 cadets and officers.
Following the successful completion of the Param Vir Sagar Yatra at Sri Vijaya Puram and their participation in the prestigious Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Rally at New Delhi, the Andaman & Nicobar NCC cadets returned safely. Their involvement throughout the Yatra reflected exemplary discipline, dedication, and a strong commitment to national service.
Significantly, the conduct of the Param Vir Sagar Yatra marked the first time that such a prestigious and large-scale NCC initiative was undertaken in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, creating a historic milestone and fostering a deep sense of patriotism among the youth and citizens of the islands.
Lieutenant Commander Reyaz Farooq, Commanding Officer, 1 (AN) Naval Unit NCC, along with the unit staff, appreciated the collective efforts of all stakeholders and the Andaman & Nicobar Administration for their valuable support and cooperation in ensuring the successful execution of the expedition and associated events.
