Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb. 6: The Department of Sports & Youth Affairs conducted District level Athletic Meet – 2026 on 04.02.2026 & 05.02.2026 at Netaji Stadium Sports Complex, Sri Vijaya Puram in respect of the School students (I to XII) ,above 18 yrs Open Men & Women Category and also conducted 1st District level Athletic Meet for Senior Citizen (Men & Women) in various events.
The main attraction was the Yoga Demonstration by the primary class students, such events will be continuously organized by the Department of Sports, so that the children of this UT get an opportunity to participate in National Level Competitions. The winners were honored with Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals and Cash Prizes accordingly.
In the Senior Citizen competition, the championship trophy in the men’s section was awarded to Shri. A. Babu Swamy and in the women’s section it was awarded to Smti. A. Nagarathinam.
On this occasion, Shri. Gyan Sheel Dubey, HoO, Directorate Education consented as Chief Guest, and awarded the medals to the winner participants. As part of this event, 700 participants from schools, colleges, and youth groups in South Andaman attended. In Senior citizen (Men & Women) altogether 40 participants participated.
