Katchal, June 1: In the quiet village of Upper Katchal, nestled in Nancowry region, a young girl named Justina dared to dream beyond the horizon. Her inspiring journey from a remotest village to becoming a skilled healthcare professional is a shining testament to determination, opportunity and the power of skill development.
Justina first learned about Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) through a mobilization camp organized by the regional Community Development Block Office, Nancowry. Inspired by the possibilities, she enrolled for the General Duty Assistant – Advanced course under the CUYDT Skill Development Project Institute at Namakkal, Tamil Nadu.
Over the next six months, Justina immersed herself in intensive training, mastering essential healthcare skills such as personal care, blood pressure, sugar monitoring, and administering injections. Her determination and commitment helped her successfully complete the course and secure placement. During her initial six-month placement, Justina quickly proved her capabilities. She adapted to the fast-paced healthcare environment, gaining hands-on experience and refining her skills. She earned recognition for her hard work, paving the way for even greater opportunities.
Justina’s growing expertise led her to a new role at Sparsh Hospitals, a well renowned chain of multi-specialty hospital based at Bengaluru. While getting enhanced financial package, her new role reinforced her passion for healthcare and her ability to make a real difference in people’s lives. Speaking to the Block Development Officer, Nancowry while sharing her experience, she expressed eagerness that more of her people from the region onboard the programme and make professional development in their lives. She even volunteered to participate in village-wise mobilization drives to raise awareness and motivate others in remote communities to pursue similar life-changing opportunities.
