
Car Nicobar, Feb. 9: The Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0 under the Aspirational Block Programme was formally launched at Car Nicobar Block, Nicobar District at a function held at Perka Community Hall today which will continue till April 14. It is a time-bound initiative of NITI Aayog aimed at achieving 100% saturation of identified priority development indicators through coordinated departmental efforts focusing on improved service delivery, convergence, and measurable outcomes at the grassroots level.
Inaugurating the programme, Shri Amit Kale, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District briefed the gathering about the six key indicators identified for saturation under Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0. These include improving coverage of supplementary nutrition for Children, Pregnant women, ensuring proper growth monitoring of children in Anganwadi Centres, availability of functional toilets and safe drinking water in Anganwadis under ICDS provision of adequate girls’ toilets in schools, and vaccination of bovine animals against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD). Further, it was instructed to the concerned departments to take all necessary steps to achieve 100% saturation of the said indicators in a time-bound manner.
The Deputy Commissioner, also visited the stalls and camps set up by various departments including ICDS, Veterinary, Agriculture, Health Department, and the BDO Office. He interacted with the officials and beneficiaries, reviewed the activities on display, and discussed local issues with the concerned Heads of Departments in the presence of the Village Captains. Necessary instructions were issued to the officials for prompt redressal of the issues raised.
The Health Department conducted health camps including diabetes and blood pressure check-ups, NCD screening, and TB screening. The ICDS Department showcased nutritious food items provided at Anganwadi Centres. The Agriculture Department displayed e-KYC services, seeds, saplings, while Self Help Group (SHG) products were also put up for sale and display. Earlier, the function commenced with a welcome address by the Block Development Officer, Car Nicobar.
