Three-Day Theatre Festival to Commence at DBRAIT Auditorium from Today

Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb. 12: As part of the 25th Bharat Rang Mahotsav – International Theatre Festival of India of the National School of Drama, (NSD) New Delhi, the Directorate of Art & Culture, A&N Administration, in collaboration with NSD will be organising a three-day theatre festival in the Dr. B R Ambedkar Auditorium, SVPMC, Aberdeen Bazar. This prestigious three-day event will be held from February 13 to 15, 2026, bringing world-class theatrical performances to the islands.

The festival will feature three captivating plays in Hindi, performed by the NSD Repertory Company from New Delhi, showcasing the rich diversity of Indian theatre.

The much-awaited three-day theatre festival will begin tomorrow (February 13) with a play titled ‘Tajmahal Ka Tendar’ at 6 PM. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Dr Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS will be chief guest on the occasion. This play is written by Shri Ajay Shukla and directed by Shri Chittaranjan Tripathy, Director, NSD.

On February 14, 2026, ‘Mai Ri Main Ka Se Kahun’ (written by Shri Vijaydan Detha and directed by Shri Ajay Kumar) will be staged at 6 PM. On February 15, 2026, audience can see the play ‘Babuji’ (written by Shri Mithileshwar, adapted by Shri Vibhanshu Vaibhav, and directed by Shri Rajesh Singh) at 6 PM.

This collaboration highlights the commitment of both the organizations to promote cultural exchange and artistic excellence in remote regions like the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The National School of Drama is one of the foremost theatre training institutions in the world and an autonomous body under the Ministry of Culture, Govt of India. The NSD organizes the annual Bharat Rang Mahotsav, India’s largest theatre festival, featuring national and international productions.

The general public have been urged to avail this opportunity and witness the plays being staged by such a prestigious organisation like National School of Drama. Entry to the performances is free on all three days. People have been requested to be seated by 5.40 PM on three days.  The seats will be available on first come, first served basis.
