Mayabunder, Feb. 15: A meeting was convened by the District Administration, North & Middle Andaman, in connection with the proposed “bandh” called on 16.02.2026 to deliberate upon the prevailing law and order situation and to ensure that normal public life remains unaffected. The meeting was attended by Public representatives and media members of the district.
During the course of the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the likely impact of the bandh on essential services, transportation, educational institutions, examinations, and movement of the general public. The District Administration impressed upon all participants the importance of maintaining peace, public order, and safeguarding the interests of students and citizens.
The representatives present in the meeting conveyed their cooperation to the Administration and stated that the bandh would be largely voluntary in nature. They assured that no individual, organisation or group would be forced or coerced to participate in the bandh.
Further, it was explicitly conveyed by the participants that:
•Ongoing examinations and academic activities will not be disturbed.
•Students’ movement and educational interests will be fully safeguarded.
•No obstruction to essential services or public movement will be caused.
The District Administration, N&M Andaman earnestly appeals to all sections of society to uphold peace, harmony and public order in the larger interest of the District. Collective cooperation is essential to ensure the safety, wellbeing and uninterrupted daily life of all residents.
