Swift and Well-Coordinated Action by Fire Service Help Save Property Worth Rs 80 Lakhs at Baratang

Baratang, March 2: On 01.03.2026, during the evening hours, a major fire broke out at M/s Mohan Mutha Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd.’s Bitumen Heating Plant at Sundargarh, Baratang. The 20-ton capacity plant was engulfed in intense flames, posing a grave threat of the fire spreading to nearby areas and potentially disrupting the ongoing NH-04 road construction works.

Upon receiving the alert, Fire Service personnel responded without delay, mobilizing water tender and multi-utility vehicles along with all necessary fire- fighting equipment and extinguishing resources required to combat a high-intensity industrial fire. The operation was led by ASI S. Subba Raj and executed by a committed team comprising ASI G. Ajit Kumar, HCs Ajay Shankar Yadav, S. Sugumaran, and Dwipankar Mandal. Displaying exemplary courage and coordination, the team strategically deployed the available fire-fighting resources to contain, control, and completely suppresses the blaze despite dense smoke and extreme heat.

Owing to their swift and well-coordinated action, the fire was brought under control within half an hour, averting a major catastrophe. Property worth approximately 80.00 lakhs was saved, no injuries or casualties were reported, and the risk to personnel and surrounding infrastructure was effectively minimized. The timely intervention ensured uninterrupted continuation of the critical infrastructure work and reflected the preparedness and dedication of the Fire Service team.
