Sri Vijaya Puram, March 12: The Department of Art & Culture, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, in collaboration with INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage) – Andaman & Nicobar Islands Chapter, will be organising Heritage Walks in and around Sri Vijaya Puram on a regular basis. The initiative aims to showcase the Islands’ rich historical and cultural legacy and to provide an immersive experience for tourists, residents, students, and heritage enthusiasts.
In this series, two Heritage Walks are scheduled to be conducted; one on March 14, 2026, and another on April 4, 2026. On March 14, ‘Heritage Walk World War-II’ and on April 4, the ‘Heritage Walk Kalapani Trail will begin at 5.30 am and end at 7.30 am. The walks will cover important spots connected with the history of these Islands.
The Heritage Walks are open to all — tourists, students, freelance tourist guides, empanelled guides, representatives of tour operators, and any individual interested in exploring the Islands’ heritage. Through these walks, participants will gain first-hand insights into the history, architecture, and stories of different sites in Sri Vijaya Puram while the local guides and tourism students will get a platform to learn and carry forward these cultural experiences.
Interested individuals and groups may contact the Librarian (Art & Culture) over phone no 9476037145 or email at – artand.culture@and.nic.in for participation details. Let us walk together through time, celebrate our shared heritage, and strengthen cultural tourism in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
