
Hutbay March 17: An Interfaith Iftar gathering aimed at promoting communal harmony and mutual understanding was organized by Hutbay Brothers on 13 March 2026 at the ALHW Auditorium, Hutbay, Little Andaman. The program witnessed the participation of around 140 people, including 110 Brothers and sisters from different communities and 30 Muslim Brothers, reflecting the spirit of unity and brotherhood during the holy month of Ramadan.
The program began with the Welcome Address by Br. Mujib Rehman, who warmly welcomed the gathering. In his address, he briefly spoke about the significance of Ramadan, emphasizing the values of compassion, self-discipline, and harmony among communities.
This was followed by addresses from spiritual leaders of different faiths.
Maulana Mizanur Rahman spoke about the importance of Ramadan and highlighted the teachings of the prophets that guide humanity towards righteousness and peace.
Pandit Sona Chakraborty of Kali Mandir expressed happiness at being part of such an event, mentioning that it was the first interfaith Iftar program of this kind in Little Andaman. He appreciated the organisers for bringing people together and stressed the importance of communal harmony.
Father Kuriyan also thanked the organisers and appreciated the initiative, noting that such gatherings strengthen understanding and respect among different communities.
During the Official Address, Shri Sunil Kumar, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Little Andaman Division, appreciated the organisers for conducting a well-organized program that promotes social unity.
Shri Ashutosh Behra, Commander, Indian Coast Guard, shared that it was the first time in his life attending an Iftar program. He described the event as well organized and said that such initiatives are the need of the hour to strengthen harmony and goodwill among people.
The event concluded with the Iftar, where participants from different communities broke their fast together, symbolizing unity and brotherhood.
The program ended with a Vote of Thanks by Br. Arif, Junior Engineer, who expressed gratitude to all the distinguished guests, spiritual leaders, participants, and volunteers for making the event successful.
