Police Successfully Trace Missing Woman from Forest at Kalighat

Kalighat, March 17: In a swift and coordinated effort, the Police of North & Middle Andaman District successfully traced a missing woman from a dense forest area under the jurisdiction of Police Station Kalighat.

On 12/03/2026, Shri Segwa Toppo, aged about 47 years, a resident of Nabagram Village, reported at Police Station Kalighat that his wife Budhni Munda, aged about 46 years, who has been suffering from mental illness for the last 20 years, had been missing from their residence since the morning of 10th March 2026. He suspected that she might have wandered into the nearby jungle.

Acting promptly, a Missing Report was registered at PS Kalighat and a special search team was immediately constituted to trace the missing woman. The police team, with the assistance of the relatives of the missing woman and local villagers, launched an extensive search operation in the nearby forest areas. After sustained and coordinated efforts covering more than 100 square kilometres of forest area since 12/03/2026, the missing woman was finally traced deep inside the forest on 15/03/2026. She was immediately shifted to PHC Kalighat for medical examination and necessary treatment, as her health condition had deteriorated due to prolonged fasting. After receiving medical aid and recovering her health condition, Budhni Munda was safely handed over to her husband.
