ANTCC President Demands Immediate Action from Electricity Department to Resolve Persistent Load Shedding Issue

Sri Vijaya Puram, June 4: The Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President Shri Rangalal Halder, has issued a formal appeal to the Superintending Engineer, Electricity Department, A & N Islands addressing the alarming situation of continuous load shedding that has plagued the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, especially the South Andaman region, for the past months.

In his letter, Shri Halder highlighted the severe hardships being faced by the local population due to daily power outages extending up to 6 to 7 hours. He pointed out that these frequent and prolonged interruptions have not only disrupted normal household life but have also had a detrimental impact on essential services such as education, healthcare, small-scale businesses, and public safety infrastructure.

The ANTCC President demanded that the Electricity Department to act with urgency and transparency, taking concrete corrective measures to alleviate the crisis and restore reliable power supply. He also stressed the need for a formal public communication explaining the steps being undertaken to resolve the issue.

If no meaningful action is taken within the next seven days, Shri Rangalal Halder warned that the Congress Party will have no choice but to organize a mass protest in front of the Electricity Department Head Office at Mohanpura. He reiterated that this measure is being considered only as a last resort, reflecting the deep frustration and helplessness of the people of the Islands.
