
Sri Vijaya Puram, March 29: The District Administration, South Andaman organized the “Rashtriya Ekta Run” marathon today, as part of the observance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from approximately 100 college students, who took part with remarkable energy and sporting spirit, thereby promoting the values of unity, harmony, and community engagement.
The marathon featured two categories: 10 KM for boys and 5 KM for girls. The 10 KM run for boys commenced from Cellular Jail, proceeded up to the Science Centre, and returned, concluding at Netaji Stadium. The 5 KM run for girls started from Cellular Jail, proceeded up to Sea Cliff Hotel, and returned, also concluding at Netaji Stadium.
The event was flagged off by Ms. Purva Garg, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, who encouraged the participants and highlighted the significance of physical fitness, discipline, and community participation. The students demonstrated commendable enthusiasm, energy, and sportsmanship throughout the event.
Upon completion of the marathon, a prize distribution ceremony was held at Netaji Stadium, during which prizes were awarded to the first, second, and third position holders in both boys’ and girls’ categories. Additionally, participation certificates were distributed to all the students who took part in the marathon.
The District Administration expressed its sincere appreciation to all college students, Education Department, MY Bharat, and supporting departments for their active cooperation in making the event a grand success.
