
Sri Vijaya Puram, March 30: The District Legal Services Authority, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, in association with the District Judiciary and PRAYAS JAC Society, Sri Vijaya Puram, organized an insightful Medico-Legal Awareness Session for healthcare professionals at the Lecture Hall of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS) today. The session was conducted in a hybrid mode, facilitating participation both physically and through an online platform.
The programme aimed to equip healthcare professionals from the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) and ANIIMS with essential knowledge relating to legal provisions, ethical responsibilities, and rights pertinent to medical practice.
The session was formally inaugurated in the esteemed presence of dignitaries from the District Legal Services Authority and the District Judiciary, along with Dr. Siddaraju, Director, Directorate of Health Services (DHS), and Dr. M. K. Saha, Director (I/C), ANIIMS. The programme was also graced by the presence of Ms. Marya Sheela, Regional Head, PRAYAS JAC Society, Shri K. Vijay Kumar, Advisor, PRAYAS JAC Society; and staff members of PRAYAS.
The programme was enriched by the presence of learned Judicial Officers who served as resource persons and delivered informative sessions on key medico-legal and social issues. The distinguished speakers included Shri Rashid Alam, Registrar, Calcutta High Court Circuit Bench at Port Blair & Member Secretary, A&N SLSA, Shri Neyaz Alam, Ld. Additional District & Sessions Judge, Port Blair, Shri Dipendra Nath Mitra, Ld. Judge, Family Court, Port Blair, Shri Samrat Roy, Ld. Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, DLSA, A&N Islands and Shri Anupam Sircar, Ld. Additional Judicial Magistrate First Class, Port Blair.
The session witnessed active participation from doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals, both offline and online, fostering meaningful discussions and enhancing awareness regarding legal safeguards and professional responsibilities in the healthcare sector.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. M. K.
