Sri Vijaya Puram, March 31: The Hon’ble Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, inaugurated enhanced passenger facilities, including free Wi-Fi services, at 57 airports across India on March 29. As part of a nationwide drive to upgrade passenger amenities, the free high-speed Wi-Fi service was introduced alongside several other facilities, including UDAN Yatri Cafes, Digi Yatra facility, AVSAR outlets, Flybraries and Kid Zones at multiple airports simultaneously.
This initiative was launched virtually at Veer Savarkar International Airport, Sri Vijaya Puram and the employees of Airports Authority of India along with key stakeholders participated in the inauguration function through virtual mode. It marks yet another milestone in the continued enhancement of passenger amenities at Veer Savarkar International Airport, complementing previously inaugurated facilities such as the AVSAR outlet, Kids’ Zone, and Digi Yatra facility.
The high-speed Wi-Fi service is designed to provide seamless connectivity to passengers, enabling smooth access to streaming services, video calls, and essential applications, thereby enhancing the overall travel experience. The simplicity of its use has already started garnering favourable feedback from passengers.
These upgrades, spearheaded by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, aim to deliver improved, modern passenger services across airports, with particular emphasis on key tourist destinations such as the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Passengers at Veer Savarkar International Airport can avail the free Wi-Fi service by selecting the official network “AAI Free Wi-Fi” on their devices and completing a simple registration process using their mobile number to receive a one-time password (OTP).
