Follow-Up Action in NDPS Case: Co-Accused Financer Arrested After Financial Trail Investigation

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 1: Continuing its relentless crackdown on narcotics, the Anti-Narcotics Police Station (ANPS), Andaman & Nicobar Police, by effectively striking backward and forward linkages, has apprehended a key co-accused, thereby strengthening efforts to dismantle the drug network.

Earlier, in FIR No. 07/2025 dated 17.06.2025 under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985, acting on specific intelligence inputs, a team of Anti-Narcotics Police Station had successfully intercepted a narcotic consignment near Andaman Sea & Airways, Air Cargo & Container Services, Shivram Complex, Mohanpura, Sri Vijaya Puram, resulting in the seizure of 1.560 Kgs of ganja and arrest of Kavoor Hemant Rao S/o Shri K. Dhanteshwar Rao (34) yrs R/o Anarkali near Play Ground, Sri Vijaya Puram, who was subsequently charge-sheeted after completion of investigation.

During the course of further investigation, sustained efforts were undertaken to trace the financial trail and backward linkages associated with the narcotics network. During technical investigation, including analysis of financial transactions and digital records, the involvement of A. Naganathan, S/o Late S. Armugam (41 yrs), Pvt Worker, R/o Hanuman Junction, Haddo, Ward No. 01, Sri Vijaya Puram, came to light, who acted as the financer of the narcotics operation and played a key role in facilitating the supply chain.

Acting on credible leads, a team of Anti-Narcotics Police Station successfully apprehended the co-accused A. Naganathan, S/o Late S. Armugam (41 yrs), Pvt Worker, R/o Hanuman Junction, Haddo, Ward No. 01, Sri Vijaya Puram on 31.03.2026. The arrest has led to the uncovering of crucial financial linkages and operational networks, further strengthening the case.

The investigation of the case is being carried out by ASI Surya Narayan, Anti-Narcotics Police Station, under the close supervision of Inspector K. Binoj, SHO, Anti-Narcotics Police Station, whose diligent and sustained efforts in tracing financial transactions, digital evidence, and backward-forward linkages resulted in the identification and subsequent arrest of the co-accused.

The case was successfully detected and investigated under the supervision of Smti. Yogita Sharma, DANIPS, Dy.SP (Narcotics) and the overall supervision of Shri Jitendra Kumar Meena, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police (CID), A&N Islands.

This successful follow-up action highlights the continued vigilance and determination of the Andaman & Nicobar Police in dismantling organized drug networks and ensuring a drug-free society.
