Sri Vijaya Puram, March 31: Demonstrating its continued commitment to combating drug trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Police Station (ANPS), Andaman & Nicobar Police, has secured a conviction in an NDPS case registered earlier.
The case pertains to FIR No. 13/2025 dated 24.10.2025 U/s 20(b)(ii)(A) of the NDPS Act, 1985, wherein, acting on credible intelligence, a raiding team of Anti-Narcotics Police Station intercepted Uday Mondal, S/o Shri Swapan Mondal (25 yrs), originally from South 24 Parganas, West Bengal, presently residing at School Line, Ranchi Basti, Sri Vijaya Puram, near the Exit Gate of VSI Airport, Lamba Line, Sri Vijaya Puram. During the search of his luggage, 915 grams of illicit ganja concealed inside a carry bag was recovered and seized. The accused was apprehended on the spot after observing due legal formalities.
The investigation of the case was carried out by ASI Surya Narayan, Anti-Narcotics Police Station, whose diligent investigation and timely submission of the charge sheet led to successful prosecution of the case.
The accused was subsequently convicted on 16/03/2026 by the Hon’ble Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Sri Vijaya Puram, and the case was disposed of as per law.
The conviction reflects the effective investigation and professional commitment of the Anti-Narcotics Police Station, reinforcing the resolve of the Andaman & Nicobar Police in ensuring swift legal action against offenders involved in drug trafficking.
Consumption and trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances are strictly prohibited by law and are punishable with imprisonment of up to 20 years and a fine of up to ₹2,00,000.
