Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 2: The Andaman Chapter of the Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI) celebrated its 1st Year Anniversary at the Sanaro Conference Hall, Hotel Sunsea Resort, Middle Point, on Monday evening.
The programme began with welcome address by Shri M. Vinod, Chapter Chairman, ADTOI Andaman Chapter, who highlighted the formation, journey, and achievements of the chapter over the past year and reiterated its commitment to strengthening tourism in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
As part of the celebrations, tourism stakeholders were felicitated for their significant contributions to island tourism. A special felicitation was accorded in respectful memory of Late Shri Krishnamachari, Pioneer of Andaman Tourism and founder of Sagar Tours and Travel, recognising his pioneering role and efforts in training and empowering local youth.
Shri Sheikh Umran of Andaman Sea Wonders Pvt. Ltd. was honoured for introducing Water Scooters at Swaraj Dweep, while Shri Mohammed Safiq of Aqua Cars was felicitated for introducing Jet Cars at Sri Vijaya Puram and Swaraj Dweep, adding innovative dimensions to island adventure tourism.
The programme also recognised Shri Udhay Bhasker, founder of Andaman Stargazing, for promoting astro-tourism, and the Andaman Avians Club (AAC) for its sustained contributions to bird watching, avian conservation, education, and citizen science in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Mohammed Sajid, Treasurer, ADTOI Andaman Chapter, followed by informal interaction and high tea.
